The SnapDragon I™ shield is designed for attachment to 2-3/8” diameter steel poles having PGT (Pipe Grip Tie) brackets from Simpson Strong-Tie™. 

The SnapDragon II™ shield is designed for attachment to 2-3/8” diameter steel poles with WAP (Wood to Adaptable Post) brackets from OZCO Building Products™. 

1.  Allow 1-2 inches at the bottom of the pole for drainage, string trimming, and soil swelling.

2. CAUTION - PINCH POINT!  

    AVOID PLACING FINGERS BETWEEN THE SHIELD AND THE FENCE CROSS MEMBERS        

3. Align the top of the shield with the top of the pole.

4. With both hands on the front the shield near the top bracket, press until the shield snaps over the brackets. The shield will snap on when approximately 40 lbs. of pressure is applied.  DO NOT HAMMER ON THE SHIELD.  HAMMERING WILL DENT THE SHIELD.

5. Move to the next bracket down and press with both hands.

 1. What holds the SnapDragon™ shield in place?

The shield is held in place by the potential elastic energy you exert when you push it into place, which continues to pull the Snap Dragon shield against the fence. 

2. Why is it hard to press the SnapDragon™ shield into place?

Because the SnapDragon™ shield is designed to remain in place during very high wind conditions.

3. What if when installed, it is not aligned with the top of the pole?

The SnapDragon™ shield can be moved upwards along the pole with a crowbar or other lever placed at the bottom of the shield. Use a wide lever to avoid creating a dent at the bottom of the shield.
